Wilsey History

As with many metal machine shops, Wilsey Tool was founded in William Wilsey’s basement back in 1966. At that time there was a small but growing demand for custom cutting tools utilizing an emerging new technology known as electro-discharge machining. It wasn’t until 1976 that Wilsey expanded operations to their current address in Quakertown, PA and became one of the leading EDM machining centers in the US. In time, Wilsey refined their craft as an acclaimed small parts manufacturer and migrated towards precision CNC machining. Wilsey further honed their applications expertise along with a can-do culture for providing highly engineered components on behalf of their customers. As the medical device market began to emerge in the 1990’s, Wilsey became the supplier of choice to that industry because of their precision, quality detail and responsiveness. These attributes remain critical requirements to this day for an industry that is ever evolving. By the early 2000’s Wilsey had expanded operations several times, achieved ISO 13485 certification and has established themselves as an industry leader in implantable devices and instruments. Today Wilsey prides themselves in servicing the industry from custom prototype and application support through product commercialization.
